Be the Best

So, what does it take to be the best in the world, or, to be the best in YOUR world?

THREE STEPS:

The most crucial first step in achieving a goal is to get out there on the edge and make it big. In the words of Donald Trump "If you are going to think anyway, you might as well think big." When you bite off more than you can chew and declare to the world that you are going to do something amazing, this boldness motivates and excites you to tackle your challenge and invest the appropriate amount of energy into it. Anything less and you just won't care enough.

YOUR BOLDNESS motivates and excites you to tackle your challenge and invest the appropriate amount of energy into it. Anything less and you just won't care enough.

And that is exactly why being bold works. If your chances of succeeding at anything in life are directly proportional to the amount of energy you invest into it, then being Bold is really all about ramping up your commitment level regarding your goal.

When you are bold about what you have set out to accomplish, the energy you invest into achieving it will result in a motivated vision of your success and the formulation of that most crucial vision is the SECOND STEP. Your vision will keep you on track and will be your road map that will guide you on your journey. Your vision will become your reality by changing the way YOU behave toward your pursuit of your goal in the following three ways:

  1. A bold vision will prepare you for failure - even make you welcome failure as a PART of your success
  2. A bold vision will provide you with a way to deal with and conquer your fears.
  3. A bold vision will provide you with the energy you require to push yourself beyond your personal limits.

And finally, the THIRD STEP in accomplishing a goal is to be bold, and to simply BEGIN IT. Just start the journey - bite off more than you can chew, then focus on the next bite, then the next, then the next. And don't forget - you are ALWAYS STARTING your journey! EVERY step is the FIRST step in the rest of your journey.

Do you have any goals that you just don't seem to be making any progress on? Reached a kind of dead-end? That proverbial "brick wall"? Maybe a task at work, a financial goal, or a personal goal like weight loss, improving your fitness, or a challenging relationship?

What if I were to suggest that maybe the problem isn't that the challenge is too big for you' Maybe the challenge isn't big enough. Is your challenge safely within your comfort zone?

Is there a way you can nudge your challenge from INSIDE your comfort zone into the bold "think big" zone. It doesn't take much, just a bit - just enough to excite you and motivate you to tackle your challenge.

When you think about your challenge, it should get your heart pumping - that's always my test. My wife calls it the bathroom test because every time she thinks about her upcoming Ironman race, her bowels start working and she has to run to the bathroom!

Secondly, have you developed a clear VISION of your success? Do you visualize your success day and night? Do you want it so badly that you would do anything to get it?

And finally, if you can do those two things - be bold about your goal and develop a clear vision of your success, then all that is left is simply to BEGIN IT. Take your very next step toward achieving your dream. Motivational Speaker.

Power Of Intension

The Spiritual Practices of the Ninja

We know little about the origins of the Ninja, the children of darkness - mysterious shadow-warriors who maintained their eerie mist-shrouded mountain secrecy in the Iga and Koga Provinces of Japan from around 900 AD, practicing the arts of stealth and invisibility. Legends, however, tell of the Ninja warriors supposed descent from tengu, savage demons that were half man half crow and were able to bend the laws of nature and control the human mind.

Probably closer to the truth, according to Stephen Hayes (the first American to be accepted as a personal student of Masaaki Hatsumi, the thirty-fourth master of Togakure-ryu Ninjutsu) is that these warriors were ex-military men who fled China after the collapse of the Tang dynasty and settled in Japan. Here they became teachers of martial arts, philosophy, and mysticism adapted from the esoteric knowledge of India and Tibet and the spiritual practices of Chinese monks and shamans.

They expounded systems of integrated mind-body awareness, based on personal understanding of the order of the universe [and an] unconventional way of looking at situations and accomplishing things The original Ninja were mystics, in touch with powers that we would describe as psychic today. Their ability to tune into the scheme of totality and thereby become receptive to subtle input from beyond the usual five senses was strange and terrifying

Their spirituality or mysticism, however, was not based on empty and impractical religious teachings but on highly advanced combat skills and practical arts of deception and warfare, where warriorship was linked to natural law. Spirituality was not regarded as an external projection onto distant deities, as our religions are in the West, but as a way to inner knowledge, self-mastery and personal power.

To arrive at their understanding, the Ninja developed a comprehensive and holistic map of the human psyche and life cycle, which linked the inner and outer worlds the world of creativity and imagination and that of time, space and nature to give a full picture of life and the challenges facing every warrior on his path to liberation and happiness, as well as the means of overcoming these trials. This map revolved around the elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth, and the qualities of Fear, Power, Clarity and Fatigue. The map can be looked at as offering four gates that we must all step through if we want an authentic spiritual life and one that has meaning for we who we really are.

In the modern world we are still at war, looking for peace, and our personal freedoms are still constrained by people and institutions that tell us who we are, how to behave, how much power and freedom we may have work demands, tax demands, commuter timetables, celebrity fashions the list is endless. Spiritual warriors know these things as tyrants. They are not so different from the demands and dictates of the power-crazed emperors that led to the formation of the remote mountain communities of the Ninja rebels.

INNER TYRANTS

In these turbulent modern times we are at risk as much from inner tyrants ways of being and seeing that we have internalised as we have grown up and become socialised into our cultures way of viewing the world as much as external tyrants in the form of terrorists and warring nations who use military force to impose their worldview upon ordinary citizens (us) who get caught in the middle of their petty ideological skirmishes.

Our inner tyrants are fixed patterns of behaviour that get in the way of our search for freedom and divert our attention from the real work of the sacred human being: to live fully the beautiful and finite lives that are given to us. They lead us inevitably into external tyranny since, if we have not dealt with our own issues we end up projecting them out onto the world where we see monsters and chaos all around us which, in our fear, we must oppose and destroy before they destroy us; or else we feel too weak to oppose such lunacy because this system and habit of war is so much bigger than us.

Magically, however, if we deal with the inner tyrants, the external ones vanish like mist. In this respect, the warrior pathway of the four gates is as relevant today as it ever was and probably more important than ever.

The quest of the warrior has always been to overcome the impositions of tyranny and find a unique code to live by so that he or she can harness wisdom and power and find happiness in the material world. In doing so, warriors from many different traditions and cultures have noticed that we all face four enemies to personal freedom. These enemies can be seen as our beliefs about the world, which have been passed down to us from the tyrants around us the leaders, power elite and self-appointed experts in our societies who have set up systems and institutions to enforce their worldview upon us. We have internalised these worldviews and while we believe that the world operates in a particular way we can never be free because we never see an alternative.
If we face these enemies, however, we find that they transform themselves naturally and easily into the allies that can help us achieve the happiness we seek. Thus, these enemies Fear, Power, Clarity, Fatigue are not only the challenges that face us, they are the means to their resolution as well as the gateways we walk through in order to resolve them. We are then empowered, clearer about who we are, and able to see the truth of our lives. That, in itself, is freedom, and greater freedom always equates with more happiness.

THE FOUR GATES

According to the four gates model, we are born in the East of the circle that represents our self and our life journey. In infancy, we are not even aware of a separate self, so intimately are we still connected to the flow of all things and so deeply a part of primal, universal consciousness. This stage represents a time of no-self in the sense of a socialised conception of who we are with a unique identity distinct from everything else in the world or any expectations upon us to perform or be anything but what we are. Although our socialisation will begin at this time, we are less conscious of this mind stuff and more aware of our bodies and their physical demands, as anyone who has heard a newborn scream to have its needs met will know only too well. This physicality and passion of the young child is represented by the element of Fire.

As we grow, the world moves in to hook us into its worldview and so we progress to the South, becoming teenagers and young adults, with more and more socialisation taking place into the ways of our culture. Although there is no firm age structure or chronology to this journey (and, indeed, some people do not naturally achieve all of these stages, becoming stuck instead in one or more of them as they go through life), this aspect of ourselves is best represented as an age period of perhaps 15-40 years, with the main action taking place from 15-25. It is at this time that we first begin to express ourselves as unique individuals in the world, out to make a place for ourselves and carve our mark. It is a time of ambition and emotions, when we first fall in love, have our first sexual experiences, have our hearts broken, find partners, and settle down to focus on home and career. Spiritual work becomes unconscious, bubbling on within us while our minds and bodies are occupied with the physical world. Because of the emotional content of this period it is identified with the element of Water, whose ebbs and flows correspond to the highs and lows and the emotional comings and goings of this age.

As we reach the West we find that we have entered what we in the Western world call middle age. This is a time for large-scale recapitulation of self, a time when many people re-examine their lives up until this point, the assumptions they have made about the world and the agreements they have made with it. It is a time when, in the words of the philosopher Noam Chomsky, many of us will realise that "The average man follows not reason but faith and this naive faith [has been founded upon] necessary illusions and emotionally potent oversimplification by the myth maker to keep him on course." We have been living a lie, in other words, which has been based on the mythology of our culture and its definitions of what makes a real (socially acceptable) man or woman, success or failure. This myth, most likely, has never been us, but we have still lived it without ever seeing this before. Now, from the perspective of greater life experience, we begin to question who we are and, even if we are successful, settled and wealthy in social terms, whether this is enough to satisfy us on a personal and spiritual level. We have been hooked for perhaps 20 years by a vision of success defined in consensus or corporate terms but now begin to reassess who we have been and, with death starting to breathe down our necks, to reconsider our lives and ask Is that all? as we look at who we might have been and how we might better spend our remaining days (more face time in the office or watching our children grow? Climbing the corporate ladder beneath a mad and ungrateful boss or surfing the Rockies for kicks?). This is a time of consideration and thought about who we truly are and what we want from our lives, offering us the potential for adaptation, reinvention, rejuvenation and re-emergence into someone new. It is a time of life when the powers of the mind are more fully and productively used, both in reflecting on the past and revisioning the future. Because of this it is characterised by the element of Air, which has the ability to blow away our past lives and sweep us forward into a new and deeper sense of a more authentic self.

Finally, we arrive in the North and, if we have done the necessary work throughout our journey around the wheel, we may experience a true understanding of self, leading to deep peace and harmony, where we can look back on life and see our real place in the world, the meaning of our lifes path and, perhaps, the flow of all things, from a perspective of wisdom and good humour. We are able to take a more spiritual and reflective look at things and to experience maturity and groundedness, where we can be of service to our community and happy in ourselves. This grounding quality of the North is represented by the element of Earth, which is fitting because this is also the place of death, where we return to the Earth before rebirth to the East as the cycle continues into new lives to come.

Once again, it is worth emphasising that these four are only enemies when you have not confronted them; as soon as you enter into battle with them you automatically transform them into allies who can help in your quest for balance and internal harmony and, once you achieve this, external success is assured since you are the great dreamer of your world.

The way of all warriors is not to hide within fantasy or to search only for the light (as is the way of many modern new age practices) but to embrace the darkness as well, for it is only in our shadows (when the light is behind us) that we see ourselves truly reflected, and only then that we can address ourselves and heal our pains so that the world itself is healed.

Response - Ability Divine Source

The time has come for the mass population on Earth to respond with each of your Divine ability to connect to your Higher Self, God, Holy Spirit, or whatever name you may give to your Highest and purest Spiritual connection to All That Is in the universe.

This is the I AM Presence within you. This is your time to utilize your abilities to seek answers for yourself, and learn how to receive Divine Truth in your life on every level of your life.

There are many guides and teachers both in this world of physical form, as well as in the Higher realms that are all here to assist you to reach the state of personal awakening to the point where you experience this wisdom as a part of your everyday experience, rather than an occasional glimpse of knowing or higher understanding gained from connection to Divine Source so that you may experience this connection during every waking moment of your life.

Divine Truth will always be given to you, and yet it may be difficult to follow as you shed old patterns that no longer serve your highest good in order to embrace new ones that will take you far above what many of you have experienced in this lifetime in your own personal awakening.

Each of you has the same ability that others who have a clear and pure connection to Divine Source has, it is only a matter of practice.

Your sixth sense is your highest sense of all, and it is time in your evolutionary growth that you fully activated it.

Some of you are the way showers. Some of you have become awakened and illuminate the path for others who are first beginning to glimpse their grand spiritual awakening on the personal level.

Some of you may look at these words and wonder what all of this means. That is all right. Each of you knows your place, each of you knows that you are a far greater part of the tapestry of humanity than you may realize.

Remain humble, regardless of where you are on this path to personal awakening.

Have patience for others when they do not understand for this is what God has for you pure unconditional love and patience. So please activate your God-nature so that you can also have pure unconditional love and patience for yourself.

Your time is precious. Your deeds can be turned to the Light once you decide to act out of love, rather than any negative emotions.

The only motive that will ever serve you is love and when this is carried out in your actions, this will return to you multiplied many times more than you can count. Please release all judgment. Please see that each spiritual being is growing at his or her own rate, and please seek to communicate with me when you wish to receive clarity and understanding, guidance and direction. That is what I am here for God is in you working through you living as you, so I ask you only one thing to do unto others as you would have them do unto you and to please release all blame.

Each being is blameless. Your responsibility is a response to your abilities that some of you are just beginning to tap and that is your ability to connect to and receive the guidance of Divine Source at any moment you wish to. All you ever need to do is ask and my response will be to show you that you, just like many ascended masters, carry this same ability within the depths of your being.

Enjoy this journey of awakening. You are as rare as an individual star in the heavens, and your light is needed as much as light is needed upon the Earth.

Be Well.

Conversations With God

Why Attaining Happiness is So Elusive - Part 1

The Happiness Hypothesis

As a Third Ager, I have always believed that we all can be happy after midlife with the right mind set and knowledge. However, after reading The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom by Jonathan Haidt, being happy and having a meaningful life for everyone is a little more complicated that I thought.

Dr. Fred Horowitz, my colleague at happiness-after-midlife.com, recommended I read the book; it was one of his best reads of 2008 even though it is relatively unknown (there were only two reviews on Amazon the last time I looked). It turned out to be a fascinating read for me as well, eye-opening theories and insight based on solid scientific studies. But there is also helpful practical advice for being happy which is the pay-off for me.

I was so impressed with the Haidt's book that I would like to share with you in a series of five articles what I discovered. What is particularly fascinating is his melding of Ancient and Eastern wisdom and modern Western science. It had an impact on my life and may affect you in positive ways too.

I will touch on such ideas as the divided self, affective style, cognitive therapy, the happiness set point, the adversity hypothesis, spirituality, the importance of love and social relationships and the meaning of life - just to name a few. Haidt does not suggest a quick fix solution to finding happiness (what Dr. Fred calls the "Chinese Food Syndrome": you feel full for an hour, then you are hungry again). You have to work at it.

Our Mind is often in Conflict with Itself

At the beginning of the book, Haidt, a respected positive psychologist, describes two key notions: the divided self and changing your mind. The first concept provides a backdrop for understanding his arguments throughout the book. Hadit uses the metaphor of a rider on an elephant. In his view the mind is divided into parts that conflict. On the one hand, there is the elephant which is the gut brain or emotions and passions (the id in Freud's sense). On the other hand, there is the rider or the head brain, the rational side (the ego).

In fact, he describes at length ancient thinking and the latest scientific research pointing to four distinctions: mind vs. body, left brain vs. right brain, reason vs. emotion, and controlled vs. automatic thinking. What does all this mean? Conscious thought or rational behaviour has far less influence on our lives and ways of acting than we think. These distinctions partly explain our weakness of will and our experience of being divided against our self. This is point one in making the pursuit of happiness so elusive.

"The whole universe is change and life itself is what you deem it." Marcus Aurelius

The sage of self-help thinking, Dale Carnegie writing in 1944 said that the last eight words of the above quotation "can transform your life." Haidt is more cautious about such an assertion. He does say that self improvement self development is possible. How? He suggests three specific, albeit challenging and controversial, ways of changing your mind, but more about that later. First let us explore briefly three more fascinating theories about how the mind works in unconscious ways and affects the way we think and act:

- Like-O-Meter
This is an unconscious, subtle like-dislike reaction to everything we are experiencing even if we are not aware of the experience. The psychological studies on "affective priming" Haidt describes are worth reading. Other studies he cites show that three of the major decisions in life - what we do with our lives, where we live, and whom we marry - can all be affected (even only slightly) by something as seemingly insignificant as the sound of a name.

- Negativity Bias
The elephant or the unconscious sees bad as stronger than good. For example, Haidt refers to the finding that in marital interactions, it takes at least five good or constructive actions to make up for the damage done by one critical act. Another example is fear of snakes. If the elephant fears them it doesn't matter what you "think." You will still be afraid.

- Affective Style
Affective style equals a person's average or typical level of happiness - the so-called happiness set point. It is influenced by nature much more than we think. Surprisingly, research shows that happiness is one of the most highly heritable aspects of personality. According to several identical twin studies, 50 percent to 80 percent of all variance among people in their average levels of happiness can be explained by differences in their genes rather than in their life experiences. Now I know why I have never had a depression and recover quickly from negative experiences. According to Haidt I seemed to have won the "cortical lottery."

What you can do

How can you influence or change your affective style if you were not as lucky as me in the cortical lottery? Haidt suggests three courses of action:

- Do Meditation

Meditation plays a large role in Buddhist thinking and according to Haidt it tames and calms the elephant. Done everyday for several months, meditation can help you reduce the frequency of fearful, negative, and debilitating thoughts. Dr. Fred has practised meditation for over 20 years and more recently "mindfulness." Both practices have had a significant impact on his life. Dr. Fred would probably agree with Haidt's assertion that meditation can improve your affective style.

- Learn to do Cognitive Therapy

People with a tendency to depression often tell themselves that "I'm no good," "My world is bleak," "My future is hopeless." A depressed person's mind is filled with these automatic thoughts - the inner voice that keeps replaying negative tapes. The psychiatrist Beck described the a feedback loop: distorted thinking causing negative feelings. He and others such as Dr. David M. Burns in Feeling Good suggest you can break the cycle by breaking the thoughts. If you can catch your thoughts, write them down, name the distortions, and then find alternative and more accurate ways of thinking, you the rider can learn to train the elephant. However, according to Haidt it may not be effective for everyone.

- Take Prozac

Haidt admits that this drug and other SSRIs are controversial as a quick fix (grim reminder of the happiness pill "soma" in Brave New World). Scientists still don't know how it works but it does. It can relieve symptoms and sometimes can even change personality. Haidt argues that it is not over-prescribed; he uses effectively the analogy of giving someone contact lenses to see well. For Haidt it is a reasonable shortcut to proper functioning. Other experts such as Dr. Ben Lemer writing on mercola.com and Mark Kingwell, author of Better Living: In pursuit of happiness from Plato to Prozac, would strongly disagree. It is up for you to weigh the evidence, experiment and decide whether it is right for you.

In Part 2 of the series, I'll explore the importance of reciprocity in connecting with others and the dangers of hypocrisy and self-righteousness in preventing us from being happy.

Yoga Poses

The Importance Of Yoga Poses And What They Can Do For Beginners

Yoga is a unique fitness regimen that can provide your whole body with strengthening, toning, and endurance. In addition to giving your body a good workout, it also encourages brain stimulation, meditation, and relaxation. Yoga poses are a fantastic way to end your day, or begin it. Each pose is different and allows for specific flexibility motions and toning.

Yoga poses are becoming more popular and are being incorporated into other daily fitness routines and even bootcamps! When learning Yoga you should always start with the basic beginner poses that include downward facing dog, cobra, child's pose, and more. The basic foundation poses can lead you to a better understanding of yoga, and teach you how to advance towards the harder more difficult poses.

Yoga poses vary from seated, standing, arm balances, forward bends, back bends, restorative, and plenty of others. These yoga poses will have unique names and are typically performed to soothing music. Yoga is special, because it has the uncanny ability to wake your body up and calm it down at the same time. Many people who practice yoga report feeling revived and free the entire day. Yoga positions and poses are also called asanas, which means "a posture or manner of sitting". It refers directly to yoga poses and the practice of yoga.

Beginner yoga poses, such as downward facing dog, are especially important. These poses prime your body and mind to prepare for something harder and more difficult. You will learn Mountain Pose, which is the basic foundation of all standing poses, and child's pose, which is the basic of all restorative and relaxing poses. More difficult poses include the plank, which is still considered a beginner pose, but is particularly difficult on the muscles.

Dressing for yoga poses are also a key requirement in practicing yoga. You should always wear snug yet somewhat loose fitting clothing. You want to feel comfortable, but you don't want to have too much loose fabric. Stepping and falling on a long pant leg can be dangerous! Thin cotton and easy to move in clothing is best, especially when it comes to difficult poses.

Yoga poses are plentiful, with there being tons of different yoga classes, and hundreds of different poses. You will work muscles you never knew existed, and find strength by completing and mastering special yoga poses. Posing in yoga is only as difficult as you make, but extremely relaxing and body changing. Yoga poses can awaken something new inside of you, and allow you to relax and find internal power within yourself.

You Can Turn Your Life Around in an Instant

Why do some people move from one level of success to the next in life while others seem to be stuck in the same place they were five years ago? Successful people have tapped into a law that not many are either aware of or are willing to apply to their lives. It is the Law of Suggestion, and when used correctly and consistently, it has the power to turn your life around on a dime.

Henry Ford said, 'If you think you can or if you think you can't, you are right!" Jesus, Himself said, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he".

Who you are today and the level of failure or success you have achieved is in direct proportion to who you think you are and what you think you can achieve. You may be stuck right now; stuck in the same old job you hate, stuck in the bitterness of another's betrayal to you, stuck in a body that is 50 pounds overweight; I don't care how stuck you are and for how long you have been stuck, you can walk out of it in the amount of time it takes you to think your next thought. Yes, it's the truth! There is a giant of success within you just waiting to be aroused and awakened by the power of your own suggestion!

Someone once asked this question, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time". You can walk out of your failure in any and every area of your life beginning with your very next thought. You must take captive the stinkin' thinkin' that has been allowed to run unchallenged in your mind. Negativity, self-doubt, procrastination, the lie that tells you, "This is the hand life dealt you and there is really nothing you can do about it, the lie that there are successful people, failures and mediocre people and they are born that way"; Hogwash! You are equipped to be anyone and anything you choose to be! The only difference between the successful and the failure is this, successful people engage themselves in positive self-talk and positive affirmations (both consciously and sub-consciously) daily. They are willing to fight for what they want to be and achieve, to sacrifice the momentary pleasure to live the enduring life they envision for themselves.

Are you ready to walk out of the muck and mire of defeat and failure and into the life you have always dreamed of? Then do it! Do it right now! It all begins with your very next thought. Refuse to think like a failure, replace every negative lie with a positive affirmation and remember this..."It's not what you do, it's what you keep on doing!" It takes 21 days to form any habit in your life, so be ready to fight the good fight of faith against negativity and before you know it, you will have formed a habit that will begin to direct your sub-conscience thoughts step by step right into the life you've always wished for but didn't know you could live. It's sort of like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ, Glenda, told her, "You've always had the power to be where you wanted to be", Dorothy says, "Why didn't anyone tell me it was as simple as clicking my heels three times and SAYING THE RIGHT WORDS?" Because you wouldn't have believed it before now!

The power of the spoken word and the spoken thought may seem too simple to be the answer to your getting un-stuck in life, but sometimes people stumble over the answer only because it seems too simple. We want a magic pill or some kind of epiphany but I'm telling you, at the end of the yellow brick road, you will discover you had the power within you all along!

If this article has encouraged you in some way, please leave me a quick comment. Thanks in advance! Vickie Jordan

Women and Self Esteem - Stop Chasing Your Dreams - One Key Suggestion

Is this you?

Popular culture has told you to create a vision board. Everyone is doing it. You are supposed to collect representatives of everything you want, pin it on a corkboard and sit in front of it in a dreamy state and get all tingly thinking about having it all.

But... rather than feeling all grateful and expansive, your vision board simply irritates and frustrates you because you feel disconnected to saying thanks for stuff you don't have.

Besides, you don't have time to flip through magazines looking for perfect pictures of the perfect stuff to cut out.

And another thing... what's with the affirmation thing anyway? You feel like a fraud standing in front of the mirror saying you are beautiful and you love your belly...

So, you ask? "Am I the only one who doesn't get this?" Does this mean I miss out on all that Law of Attraction stuff?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you... You are perfectly fine. You can relax... There is another path to the top of the hill, and it is beautifully simple.

I offer One Key Suggestion

Simply be here now.

Just think about this moment in time. Think about all the abundance you have in this moment. Take your focus off the past, off the future and just be here now.

I know and you know this is not new... but somehow, we get caught up in thinking we need to take action and follow the trends.

Right now, everyone seems to be creating vision boards, and that 's great... vision boards are wonderful and powerful tools, but you need to be in the right mindset to get the most out of them.

Getting what you want doesn't have to be work... You don't have to do anything... Just be in your moment... be aware... be here now... What could be simpler than that?

Whatever task or circumstance you find yourself engaged in, look for your blessing. Just be grateful for what is right now. You don't have to write in a journal, you don't have to clip pictures; there is nothing extra that you need to spend time on.

Simply say thanks for what is now.

The beauty of this concept is that once you find your center and balance, you will get to that quiet inner state of 'gratitude in the moment' and the Law of Attraction will line up more events, thoughts, circumstances for you to be grateful for... momentum will take over.

You don't have to chase your dreams; they will come to you once you place your focus on what you are grateful for in this moment. I once heard that nothing that you really desire is to be found upstream anyway, yet this is exactly the way most of us approach life.

Our desires are all downstream... just allow yourself to let go and go with your beautiful flow.

Regardless of your present circumstances, you have much to be grateful for at this exact moment. Put your focus there and stop overcomplicating your life.

When you are in a mindset to take more on, everything you need is waiting for you.

Relax... appreciate... feel grateful... invite more to be grateful for into your experience.

Namaste.

Wishing you Peace & Abundance...

How to Choose a Contractor

Choosing the right contractor to suit your building and construction needs is vital to ensure that the project is completed properly, professionally and safely.

Every year, massive law suits are battled between companies and clients due to careless injuries, ill-constructed buildings or projects that miss deadlines. Whether choosing a contractor for construction needs such as scaffolding and formwork, or for temporary structures such as scaffolding and seating at a major event, a client needs to familiarise themselves with what to look for in terms of outstanding qualities of a prospective contractor.

Where to Start

To begin the process of choosing a contractor, a good approach is to select at least three reputable contractors and ask them to assess the job in terms of what they can offer.

If they are a trusted and reliable company with a good work ethic, they will answer any questions asked and give advice on important factors of construction such as materials, time frame, costs and so forth. The quality of the advice which they dispense is a key indicator as to who will do a good job and who will do an outstanding job.

Always ask for a quote and make sure that it is received in writing.

Better Safe Than Sorry...

The next step in the selection process is to assess what safety standards are upheld by a contractor.

In South Africa, there is an OHS Act & SANS 100085 with which all construction companies should be certified. Construction companies should also uphold and follow the various health and safety procedures as outlined by the Act in every construction project they embark on.

Employees should be fully trained by a Construction Education Training Authority (CETA) approved college or educator. It is illegal in fact to have labourers who are not trained in accordance with the SANS 10085 as promulgated in the Construction Regulations, which is a part of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act).

When standards are increased by the government, the company should train their employees immediately to meet with this standard of safety. If a client is considering the use of a construction company that is not up to par with these standards, the project may become hindered by injury of labourers or bystanders and both the construction company and developers may face serious legal action.

What You Want Should Be What You Get

Another important aspect to consider when hiring a contractor is to become familiar with the materials and the types of surface work which can be used as a decoration if your project is going to have flat areas, such as a terrace.

There are many ways in which simple effects such as decorative concrete can add a cost-effective and aesthetic benefit. It is a good idea to make sure that the contractor is up to date with these techniques before they begin labour.

The crux of whether or not a contractor is trustworthy, experienced and capable of doing the job you require correctly is how they react when asked for some local references.

Any contractor based in one location or even dispersed nationally should be more than happy to provide the addresses of some previous construction jobs which they have completed. If they cannot offer any references, or their references do not seem to exist, then hiring them is going to be problematic.

It is important that those wanting to hire a contractor do check previous jobs with someone who is experienced in formwork and scaffolding, as mistakes are easily hidden from a layman's point of view.

Finally, the decision as to which contractor is right for the job should not only be based on the findings of the points discussed above, but also on gut instinct or whether you are able to effectively communicate with them. If a contractor does not "feel right" for the job, or is not respectful to you there is no point in hiring them for the contract as there needs to be a healthy working relationship between both parties.

Happiness and Health - Are They Related?

If you asked someone to name the most important aspects of happiness, what do you think would be the most common answers? Let's start with maybe the top three, that should make a little bit easier. For many people a belief in God (or a higher power) is their number one source of happiness. Others who are less inclined towards religion would probably state that their close relationships are their biggest source of happiness, especially those married with children. Even those without children may say a "loving relationship" would be near the top, which can of course be defined in different ways for different types of people. After all, we all need love, right?

After those two "biggies" that would probably leave finances in the third spot most likely, at least in most polls and studies that I've seen. Even if you don't care to be rich, you still need a certain level of comfort in order to maintain a level of happiness which lasts any length of time. I'm not certain that finances wouldn't be some peoples top choice for happiness, but of course I'm trying to base my order on reality and percentages that seem more realistic, not on the basis of a small group of money-hungry individuals. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

So what comes next on the list? Most studies and polls that I've read put "good health" somewhere on that list, and for good reason! No matter how great your relationships are, or how much comfort you have in life, you pretty much have to be at least somewhat healthy to enjoy them, right? Of course there are those that argue that truly enjoying life means not having to limit the food they eat, or amount of liquor they drink, because happiness for them is doing whatever they want for the joy of the moment. I don't try to change the minds of those who express those opinions, I just don't have the time or patience to get through to them! I do admit they have a right to their opinions.

As a nation, we are probably known for our tendency to overindulge a bit, especially when it comes to food. Are we the unhealthiest people on the planet? Possibly, quite possibly. Although the jury may be out on that one, we have to admit that we're a little lax in this country when it comes to good health. Not everyone of course. There are those that run their marathons, trek faithfully to the gym every day, and have taken up the vegetarian or at least a healthy diet, realizing that we must take care of the only physical container for our spirit we have. Recent polls show that about half of all Americans exercise on a weekly basis or more, which isn't all that great.

However, is that all there is to good health? Just exercise a few days a week, and watch our diet so we don't eat too much fattening foods? I really think it's more than that, I would go so far as to add these to the list:

1. Get regular checkups - they can warn us of any disease before it may be too late
2. Make sure you get enough vitamins and minerals in your diet, most people don't
3. Don't forget to relax, get a massage, or take up meditation. Stress is a real killer!
4. Get plenty of sleep; many people have problems with this. See your doctor if you can't sleep
5. Have lots of social connections, it's great for long-term health
6. Drink plenty of water
7. Don't smoke! Pretty obvious...
8. Exercise regularly - it should be number one!

Anyway, these are just a few tips I like to live by. We should all make an effort to live longer, happier lives and I believe that if you are taking good care of your body you are also more likely to be happy. The mind is very much linked to the body, so if one is out of balance it isn't very long until it affects the other. So do yourself a favor and take care of both, ok?

To your continued success and happiness!

Success and Happiness - How To Make Choices In Your Life That Lead To Contentment and Success

Success is defined differently by different people. When you feel successful it may be because of a relationship, work, or because you achieved something in your life that meant a lot to you. However you define it, success is that feeling of well-being that comes when you have done something you truly wanted to do.

How do you reach for the things in your life that can make you feel like a success? Setting goals and then working towards achieving those goals is a good way to begin. Having the discipline to work every day at achieving a small piece of your larger goal will also get you headed in the right direction. Also, time management becomes very important. If you let time get away from you, success will be elusive.

Who do you turn to for support in becoming the successful person you want to be? Having friends, family and other mentors in your life can mean the difference between

success and failure. Other people see us very differently than we see ourselves and they are good sounding boards when we want to think out loud about what we are doing to achieve our goals. Being able to listen to constructive criticism from people who care about us is a good trait to develop early on in life.

Finally, how will you know when you have become successful? It is not a particular point in time. Instead, success comes over us like a wave of happiness and contentment. You will recognize this feeling when it comes. There is nothing else quite like it.

You can reinvent yourself at any time in your life. To find out how to be the person you would like to be visit http://www.ReinventYourLifeWithPassion.com

Entrainment - Raising Your Frequency for Happiness and Health

It is generally understood that well being relates to a high frequency while illness and difficulties relate to low frequencies. So if we raise frequency, then we can expect improved happiness and well being. We can also expect some people to run for cover if the high frequency is too much for them to handle at the moment.

Entrainment is one very effective tool that can be used deliberately to improve conditions in ourselves and others. But where do we get these positive frequencies. One way is to create them. We can align with areas of our own excitement and feel the uplifting in our bodies and emotions.

Many kinds of music have an uplifting effect on individuals. If we stand near a very happy individual, on in a happy group, we get the same experience. This is one benefit of going to churches that joyfully deliver a positive message. We get a real uplifting through increase in our frequency.

There are a number of electronic devices that produce entrainment in one of more individuals. However, it is not necessary to rely on machines. We can use systems such as yoga, Transformational Breathing, and meditation to raise our vibrations.

If you are into exploring consciousness and the spirit world, you may have noticed that there are councils of high level beings devoted to every imaginable subject. For example, there is a Council of Love whose chosen activity, if you call it an activity, is to radiate love. You can receive the love at any time by simply asking for it.

There is also a Council of Entrainment. You can simply ask for a boost in your frequency, your aura's frequency, or your body's frequency.

Try it. You'll like it.

Finding Your Path To Recovery

Perhaps B68the biggest paradigm shift we can make in our lives; whether illness, relationship difficulties, or any of life's challenges is, "You are in charge." You are in charge of your health, your body, and in creating the results you want. The biggest trap we can fall into is the mode of the victim, where there is little or nothing we can do to improve a situation. In facing any illness, your attitude can have profound effects on your recovery and your ability to heal. The emerging field of Health Psychology embraces the bio-psycho-social model of medicine to better explain health. That is to say that your health is an interaction of not only your biology, but also your psychology and social relationships as well. Given these all influence each other, there is always something you can do to improve your attitude and positively affect your health.

Here are just a few tips for overcoming illness, keeping a positive attitude, and speeding your road to recovery.

Find your Reason for Recovery - What is your reason for getting well. What would you like to be able to do, have, or be? What are you getting well for? Then practice seeing it, see yourself beyond your illness or challenge. What will life be like once you've overcome your illness?

Gather Perspectives- In NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Psychology) there is a saying, "wisdom is 3 or more perspectives." We are living in an information explosion. Information is everywhere, on the internet, libraries, even other community members, and support groups. Getting many perspectives can help you look at what's worked for others and develop your own strategies for creating your road to wellness.

Have a Clear Goal: Often, we ask for too little, if your goal is to manage your symptoms, that is what you will get. If you set your sights higher, chances are, you'll get even more. A little bit of hope can go a long way.

Take Charge of your Challenge- Work to make your goals reality. There are things you can do, and often trying combinations of therapies, or including alternatives like acupuncture, natural health, and massage will help you improve your mood, stay upbeat, and help you create your road to recovery.

What are the Life Lessons? What are you learning from this experience? What value is there in engaging in the process and working through these challenges?

What are the Gifts of your illness or challenge? One of my colleagues dealing with Chrone's disease said, "There is nothing like a chronic illness as a wake up call for life. You appreciate even more every day that you are well, and you identify what's really most important to you." I was a little taken aback at first, it was more than just making the best of a bad situation, it was bypassing the "bad" part, releasing judgement, and getting to gratitude.

The Power of Belief - Western Medical Doctors can't B40explain why some people diagnosed with cancer and given six months to live suddenly get well and are alive 12 years later. There is a lot to be said for the sheer will to live, and the power of belief. Faith healings work by this premise, as you believe- so it is.

Working with a Coach can give you the structure, time, and space to explore your own best answers. It is also a great support system where the Coach can offer a variety of perspectives, help you create new strategies, prioritize what's most important, be a sounding board, help you stay focused on your goals, and create a future that's compelling.

Working with an Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner can help you explore the internal sets of meanings and beliefs that may be contributing to your health and wellness. Once these are core issues are identified, applied psychology tools can help you work to resolve them, often speeding recovery. NLP processes can also help you create new associations and internal meanings that support your health as well as engage the power of belief to work in your favor.

Hypnotherapy is an active way of engaging the mind/ body system to improve health and effect positive change. It has become increasingly popular in preparing for surgery, speeding healing and recovery, and reducing pain. Its an effective form for working with the subconscious mind, and can be useful in identifying underlying issues that may be getting in the way of recovery and optimal health.

Goal Setting - Key in Developing Your Home Based Business - Part 1 - Strategy Overview

If success is mandatory in every thing you do then you will reflect on your business goal setting activities now and each month going forward. Getting your business going on the internet means you are handling your internet, office, voice and customer relationship (IOVC) activities all at the same time. The internet technology required to get your home based business on the web can seem daunting regardless of the size of your business and even more so if you are a solo business owner. As you review your IOVC activities, the following points are designed to keep your goal setting activities on track.

Define your purpose - Restate your purpose to your self. What is your current state? Document your numbers and goal setting activities as outlined in your plans. Where do you stand now in relation to those goals? Has technology held you back?

Reflect on the past - Define what came out of your reflection on past business activities. Decide what you will keep working on. Clearly define what goals and objectives may not make sense to keep working on.

Decide what is not working - What about those activities that did not go well? A reflective way to look back is to evaluate what you did because you got caught up in the latest fad versus what you really like to do.

Don't go for the home run offer . - Working in a home based business invariable means working online. Your email inbox must be flooded with make money at home business offers. Your normal internet marketer will want you to learn something new, but not really commit to your well being.

Start working with profit in mind - Make sure your goals have a profit objective and you are working towards a real measurable income goal. If it is not measure able it is not a real goal.

Plan to meet your goals - Setting goals is fun, but goals need a plan. Winging it may be fun but winging without a plan makes no sense but we know people who do it. A plan will help you meet those goals you set and ensure you stay on target. The plan does not have to be complex, a one page business plan will do.

Change your approach to training - One key activity that should change for all of us is to change your approach to training. The approach should be changed to be a situational learning process that works to your advantage.

Don't be a lone hero - Get support that stays with you. A partner or a success coach who can help you move your talents forward works very well for most people.

As you can see goal setting means defining your purpose, being seriously reflective, stop what is not working, making sure you work more on what is working, work towards a real profit goal, work with a plan and make sure training works for you. If success is mandatory in your business then get free tips and resources and find the help you need at http://successismandatory.com/joinus now.

Success: The Slight-Edge Formula

Self-improvement; A great deal has been written on the subject, but does any anyone really know how to successfully implement a creative and manageable plan for its accomplishment? The concept involves goal setting, planning, time management as well as patience, faith, understanding and real desire. Too many times, people approach self improvement haphazardly, unfocused and unclear as to exactly what they want. This is not a paper specifically concerning goal-setting, that will be addressed another time in greater detail, but rather a blueprint for the implementation of the plan you generate during your own self-improvement goal setting exercise.

Many times, we set out on a self-improvement course of action with literally no idea of how to proceed, with only a loose idea of what we really want to accomplish. Basically, at this point, its just a dream of a better day. This is actually not what you want; after all, you expect success. You must believe success is possible and probable. Be expectant. Be confident.

Before you begin, sit down and write out your plan of action. Clearly write your goal, your timeframe, identify the specific steps to accomplish during the journey and the obstacles that you expect to encounter along the way. Yes, write this all down. Review it each evening before bed and again when you awaken in the morning. Keep your plan with you at all times and read it aloud to yourself several times during the day. This will imbed it deeply into your subconscious mind where it will steer you in the direction of your goal.

Jeff Olson talks about the Slight-Edge Formula for success. Imagine an incremental system where you consciously plan to improve just % each day, or even each week. Can you do that? Sure you can. Everybody can. It has been said that you can eat an elephant if you do it one bite at a time. The same idea holds true with this concept. The premise is to experience minute improvements on a consistent basis that tend to compound over time like interest. A % improvement in any skill each day is a 1-% improvement each week! A 7% improvement each month! An 84% improvement in just 1 year! Its actually higher than that because all of your advances are compounding at an exponential rate! Are you beginning to see the potential of this compounding power at work within you?

The Slight Edge Formula for success is the answer. Do a little each day and reap the rewards you desire over time, while consistently moving in the direction of your goal. You will always get out in proportion to what you put in. Apply yourself. It pays big dividends!

Most people never begin. They may talk a big talk, but they fail to act. Only a few of those who do take action tend to persist over time. Are you one of the few who are determined to make your life different? Do you want changes badly enough? Then begin now. Persist. Make no excuses.

Whats in it for me or WIIFM is your mantra. What is it thats in it for you that will drive you to pursue the goals that you have defined? Identify this and you have taken the first step toward the success you desire. This can potentially change your life? Nothing will happen until you first decide to get started. You have to make things happen. Do not wait for things to miraculously happen. They will not.

Choose to employ the Slight-Edge Formula into your everyday life events. It is simple, easy to implement and it really works.

3 Proven Strategies - How to Set Goals

If you are serious to achieve what you want in your life, you must leverage on this technique, goal setting. It is not a complicated technique, as long as you follow through; you will be able to achieve your goals easily.

Most people fail to achieve what they want because they are not committed in achieving what they want in their life. Here are the 3 proven strategies how to set goals...

1. The first step you must take is to project yourself into the future, visualize what you want in the 5 to 10 years ahead. Find out what you really want to achieve in your life. This is the first and most fundamental step in how to set goals. If you do not know what you want in your life, you will never achieve them. You must first find out your destination before you can start your journey.

2. The second step is the process of goal setting. It is not as complicated as you think. You just have to take out a piece of paper and write down all your goals on that paper. After that, you will have to paste that paper somewhere you will see often. This is to remind you and to sink the idea of achieving your goals into your subconscious mind.

3. Finally, the third step in how to set goals is what you have to do after you have written down your goals. Obviously, what you have to do is to take massive and consistent action each and everyday to make your goals come true. Many people fail to achieve what they want in their life because of the lack of action. You must take action to produce the results you always wanted. If you are not doing anything, nothing will ever come true.

These are the 3 proven strategies how to set goals. As long as you follow through these steps here, you will definitely achieve what you want in your life.

Is the Bible Accurate

I'm going to start with the first book of the holy Bible, Genesis chapter 1 verse one through five. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

And God said," let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

If the Bible is historically accurate, did God actually create earth. I have been battling over this, my whole life. It's very easy for someone to accept and believe in any religion, government, other people or whatever they truly desire to make real. I see it every day of my life, open your eyes and you will see it to.

It's hard to imagine that a superior entity like God created everything that we touch and see. The moon itself is pretty big and the creation of the sun would prove to be a little more difficult, but if you're God and your all knowing and all powerful, he or she or it, must be one incredible being.

This is only the first couple of paragraphs in the Bible and there is no, I repeat no, historical accuracy to this event. It seems like God or man, whoever wrote the Bible, should have started the Bible with something a little more believable for people that live in the 21st century. It's not hard to imagine someone 2000 years ago, believing in something like this.

2000 years ago the Romans were worshiping their own gods, we might find this ridiculous today but back then the Romans would punish you if you didn't worship their gods. We are not too far from that today. If we don't stop organized religion and their influence on humanity, we're going to have serious problems in the future.

The biggest problem I foresee is common sense. If the Bible has 500 historical accurate facts that can be proven without a doubt by historians, scholars and other intelligent people, but has one thing that can't be explained, how do we handle this. How do we handle the fact that the Bible states God created light? If this is false, what else is false in the Bible.

Greg Vanden Berge is a published author, internet marketing expert, motivational inspiration to millions of people all over the world and is sharing some of his wisdom with experts in the fields of writing, marketing, and personal development. Greg is currently working on a Personal Power Ideas. If you're ever wondering why some people can achieve success, while others seem to struggle aimlessly, what would it hurt, to take a couple of minutes of your time, if you could actually find the truth.

Magic Of Believing Book

Whose God is The Best

If you're part of a religious organization, and were asked this question, "Whose God Is Better" meaning of course, is your God better and stronger or smarter and better looking than the religious competition. Is this something that you believe or were taught while you were young? Obviously you wouldn't think that the Hindu god Brahma is better than Yahweh or Jesus, if you're a Christian. It just wouldn't make any sense to belong to a religion that was weaker than the competition.

It seems like most religions around the world have gods or even one almighty God that is the biggest and baddest god in the neighborhood, maybe even the entire universe.

If we look at the numbers, the Christian God Jesus of Nazareth is the strongest by far. A survey that was done in 2005, showed Christians 2.1 billion strong and growing. With numbers like this, their God must be doing something right. Do you think these numbers are large because of their financial influences in poor countries? Something to think about, how did Christianity become such a large religious institution. They've got plenty of money and pay relatively little taxes. Remember the golden rule, the person with the most gold makes all the rules.

Second on our religious scale are the Muslims, the Islamic religion has over 1.1 billion followers and that puts it at almost half the size of Christianity, but more than doubled the size of the third largest religion by the numbers.

The third largest religion in the world is Hinduism and most of India which is second only to China as the most populated countries in the world are Hindus. Hinduism ranks around 800 million followers.

I'll stop right there. I wanted to give you an idea of religion by the numbers, realistically the Christians and the Muslims believe in the same God but the Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophet and the Christians don't recognize Mohammad at all and Mohammad is the number one prophet for the Islamic religion. But if we put the two of them together, it would be the largest religion by far with almost no competition economically or with military strength.

So to answer our question," Whose God Is Actually Better", I would have to say the Christian God is the most popular and powerful God and the universe. The only problem is, there's no actual proof that Jesus, Mohammed, Yahweh, Krishna or any other supreme being is real. People follow these religions and base almost everything on faith with very little facts that can actually be proven.

I'm not talking about small facts, I'm talking about big ones like, how the world was created, you can choose to believe, anything that you want but until we have some facts or at least something that sounds pretty good, you should probably stop thinking, that your religion is the only way and your God the best. Show some compassion for other religions around the world, their beliefs are no better or weaker than yours.

Christian Thinking

There is a popular saying from Mark Twain about Christianity. Mark Twain - "If Christ Were Here Now, There Is One Thing He Would Not Be, a Christian."

Giving this some thought and looking around at the people that view themselves as Christians got me to thinking. Do you think, if Mark Twain were alive today, he would have the same view towards Christians and Christianity as a whole? I wonder if Christ's vision of a better world or society is what's going on today. I read somewhere, where this over 33,000 different types of Christian religions, is this what Jesus had in mind over 2000 years ago.

I don't think Mark Twain was referring to Jesus as being a bad person and Christians not wanting to associate with him. I believe it's the other way around, Jesus was an exceptional person and believed in living a life as an example towards others with kindness, forgiveness and love.

Sometimes Christians get a little carried away when they start talking about loving their neighbors like they would themselves or asking for forgiveness while choosing not to forgive others. It's hard to imagine what Jesus would actually think of modern day Christians or even what he would think about Christianity over a hundred years ago.

I wonder what Jesus would have thought a thousand years ago about Christians. Mark Twain brings up a very good point, if Christ was here today, would he be happy. If you're living a life as a Christian and following in the footsteps of Jesus, you should be proud of yourself. If not, maybe you should start thinking about changing your ways.

If you are following the path of Christ, are you following a path that has been changed and manipulated to benefit organized religion and the advancement of Christianity, or are you following the true path of Jesus. Something to think about if you're planning on spending the rest of your life in the Christian religion.

Meditation Within All The World's Religions

Many people associate meditation with Far Eastern religions like Buddhism and Hinduism, and don't realize that there are also many forms of Judeo-Christian meditation, as well as meditations from other faiths. Below is an overview of meditation as it is generally viewed within each major religion, along with book suggestions and links to resources with more information.

In Buddhism, observing and stilling the mind are the key to recognizing the transience of all thoughts and emotions, in order to connect with eternal, non-personal awareness. Awakening the Buddha Within: Tibetan Wisdom for the Western World by Surya Das is a great book for learning the basics of Buddhism and meditation.

In Hinduism, meditating is the core practice for merging the mind with the energies operating beneath the physical world, through which the mind can ultimately merge with the source of these energies itself. Meditation is considered part of yoga practice - yoga means 'union' and meditation is considered the primary method for merging our awareness with the divine. Yoga periodicals such as Yoga Journal often feature beginning yoga meditation techniques.

In Kabbalah, often called Jewish mysticism, a form of meditation called 'hitbonenut', which involves contemplating a concept or light itself, is used to attain true, meta-intellectual knowledge. A good book for learning about incorporating meditation into mainstream Jewish traditions is Jewish Meditation: A Practical Guide by Aryeh Kaplan.

Eastern Orthodox Christianity incorporates the 'hesychasm', or Jesus prayer, performed in a meditative, chanting fashion, in order to connect with the heart of faith. For some more info, go to Hesychasm.

Roman Catholicism includes contemplative practices such as the rosary for lay people, and many silent contemplative practices for monastic initiates. St. Theresa of Avila was one of several Catholic mystics who wrote on the benefits of mental prayer. Check out her writings or the writings of Jesuit Ignatius Loyola for traditional Catholic meditations.

In Quaker meetings participants sit in silence, waiting for the 'inner light' to inspire someone to speak. Check out the writings of Mary Coelho, a modern Quaker and writer, for her insights on the role of quiet contemplation in modern Quakerism.

The Sufis within Islam incorporate both energy center and devotional meditation to merge with the 'beloved divine' responsible for life itself. Sufism has many branches and corresponding meditation techniques, but most are centered on love meditations. Check out How to do Sufi Meditation by Kuriakos for more information.

Taoism is the ancient Chinese mystic tradition and philosophy focused on balance and the interacting forces of yin/yang, passive/aggressive, masculine/feminine, and creating/receiving. Tai Chi is often considered a form of moving Taoist meditation. Sitting Taoist meditation focuses on similar themes of balance and flow.

The Bahai faith, a relatively new religious tradition, founded in 19-century Persia, emphasizes the spiritual unity of all humankind and the common themes of all world religions. Check out this information on Bahai meditation.

Small Business Management

A small business may be defined as a business with a small number of employees. The legal definition of "small" often varies by country and industry, but is generally under 100 employees. The common characteristic that sets them apart from large enterprises is that they posses less tangible properties.

Small business management pertains to the independent ownership, supervision and control of assets, resources, products, services, workforce and profits of an enterprise which is not prevalent in its area of operation.

In an economic atmosphere that breeds and sustains entrepreneurship, a lot of individuals are attracted to the prospect of possessing and directing his own business. They choose having a small enterprise to be close to costumersenabling fast, flexible, and personalized service, to innovate less expensively, and to manage solely.

Managing both small and large businesses involves the five major functions of managementplanning, organizing, directing, controlling, and coordinating.

The mistake that most small business owner-managers commit is giving less attention to planning and controlling functions. These two, when fulfilled effectively would result to excellent goal setting. And the success of every business relies heavily on its long-range goals.

The most popular approach applied to most small businesses is management by objectives or MBO. The reason for this is that it is result-oriented and jobs are perceived in terms of achievements rather than simply functions.

The first step in developing an effective MBO program is to define your business. A transparent and attainable vision of the business is critical for planning, marketing, product development, building and equipment, and financial and staff needs.

The next step is to set both short- and long-range business goals. Long-range goals would serve as the mold from which your companys MBO program would take form. These goals would triumphantly be attained through management and employee communication. The staff should also take part in the formulation of goals, to increase their sense of commitment in fulfilling them.

The third step in developing the MBO is devising a work plan. The work plan should address the following areas: (1) goalshould be specific and concise; (2) measurementbenchmarks to be used; major problems to be anticipated; (3) work stepsmost essential steps to be completed at a fixed time; and (4) supervisor's goalsemployees should identify which of their manager's goals relate to their own.

The fourth step would be to report progress. An MBO program must include a provision for regular progress reports. Goals and objectives can only be attained through conducting regular record and review of progress. Progress which is below expectation can enable problem identification.

The fifth and final step would be to evaluate performance. This is done by compiling and reviewing the past results of the steps done in the development of the MBO. Measure every element and know if each coordinated and supported each other.

Small businesses face an array of problems most commonly, bankruptcy and under- capitalization This is often a result of poor planning rather than economic conditions - it is a common rule of thumb that the entrepreneur should have access to a sum of money at least equal to the projected revenue for the first year of business in addition to his anticipated expenses.

Getting into small businesses is not as easy as it seems. To avoid the problems stated above, the owner-manager should first ensure that he has or would be able to raise enough funds. And no matter how small his enterprise is, he should not fail to apply the major functions of management.

Heaven and Hell

Heaven is a bribe and hell is a punishment. Be good and act a certain way and you will be granted admission to heaven and not be condemned to burn forever. Does it seem fair that entrance to heaven is determined by the location of a baby's birth? If a baby was born into a God fearing Christian society then he would be rewarded with everlasting bliss. If he was unlucky enough to be born into an African tribe or an Asian village than immediately upon death he would head below to burn for an eternity. Believe like me or go to hell? It is beyond belief that some people actually believe this.

Heaven and hell seem to be based on fear. Fear controls people's actions and makes them do things they would not normally do. Fear brings cruelty about. Organized religion and cruelty seem to go hand in hand. Although organized religion has many benefits, I feel that the absolute truth thinking that goes along with many forms of religion including Christianity is wrong.

It seems foolish to think that God has a list of ten things he does not want us to do. If we mess up and do not ask for forgiveness after we break some of these rules, we will be sent to hell to be in misery forever and ever. Believing in hell is simply a mild form of insanity.

Do these Catholic priests that molest young boys go to hell? Or does their position within the church automatically eliminate them from the hell registry?

British-Israelites and Jews in Grave Danger

The American, British and Jewish peoples are in serious trouble. Beyond Babylon: Europe's Rise and Fall warns that due to our idolatry and immorality, our nations are prophesied to fall and fall hard if we don't turn from our ways and remember our Hebrew roots and biblical responsibilities (Malachi 4:4).

Our Great Creator God, the God of Jacob-Israel, is removing His protective shield from our borders and our lands will soon be ravaged by both the weather and men, but God in His mercy, in His patience, has permitted us a grace period that is about to end. We have been suffering the consequences of sin and such divine punishment will only intensify and escalate, as we demand, to drive the message home (Daniel 9:11).

Many will find themselves homeless due to famine and destruction, and if we remain proud and stubborn and refuse to hear and heed and save ourselves, we'll suffer greater destruction, leading to our defeat and deportation, conquered by the fascist EU under German-Jesuit influence. America will be homeless. The British Commonwealth will be homeless. Israel will be homeless. We'll have been exiled from our God-given Garden of Eden. The choice is ours. God help us to make the right choice and do the right thing and CHOOSE LIFE! (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Daniel 9:11

11 Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against Him.

Malachi 4:4

4 Remember the Law of Moses, My servant,
Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,
With the statutes and judgments.

2 Chronicles 7:14

14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
